Posev's White Army Photo
Album:
Regarding the Posev Photoalbum. I purchased a copy from Posev over a year ago and finally received it. It was well worth the wait. It's like they took every single picture they had in the White Army archive and published it in this book. I was amazed at how many "colorful unit" photos there were, especially of the Kornilov division. There's a really interesting photo in there of some Kornilov soldiers posed with banners and flags. There's also this fascinating photo of a bunch of "colorful unit" officers standing outside a train. The image is sharp, and even though it is a black and white photo, you can tell who is a Markov, who is a Kornilov, etc. Did I mention the color plates in the back of this book? They have all the "colorful units" of course, including Samursky (with yellow cap band and black cap top!) as well as Northwestern Units, Siberian Units, you name it. You will find uniform color combinations you have not seen before. Shades of orange, sky blue caps (not Alekseev), etc. In addition, there are color plates of flags, banners, and awards. You can't go wrong with purchasing this book! (review provided by George H. Marion-Landais) Permanently out of stock and photocopies of this publication are not viable. |

Armored Units of the Russian Civil War: White and Allied (New Vanguard
83) Authors: David Bullock, Alexander Deryabin, Illustrator: Andrei Aksenov US Price: $14.95 In stock now Paperback; December 17 2003; 48 pages; ISBN: 1841765449 About this book: One of the most important conflicts of the 20th
century, the Russian Civil War was the struggle that led to the formation
of the Soviet Union. Following the overthrow of the Russian Provisional
Government on 7 November 1917, the All-Russian Congress of Soviets met and
handed over power to the Soviet Council of People's Commissars.
Immediately forces began to assemble in opposition to the Bolshevik
regime, and these became known as the Whites. This title examines the
armour that they had at their disposal throughout the course of the war.
It was a varied collection including British and French vehicles and,
perhaps most famously, the armoured trains that enabled the Whites to
dominate much of Siberia. Available from On Military Matters (www.onmilitarymatters.com) |
